MAN OR ASTRO-MAN?
Culling material from the 1997 Australian
release What Remains Inside a Black Hole, Estrus remasters, rearranges,
and repackages its old B-sides and outtakes to make for an effective
stopgap release. Beyond the Black Hole music CDs Of the old tracks,
"Polaris" and "Surf Terror" retain the band's theremin-inspired '50s
B-movie sci-fi indulgences the best. Beyond the Black Hole songs
Dispensable new cuts "Green-Blooded Love" and "The Wayward Meteor" are
less humorous, pointing surf guitar energies towards the harder edge of
the band's later albums. Beyond the Black Hole album In the end, "The
Powerful Fully-Transistorized Dick Tracy Two-Way" makes it all
worthwhile, with a title that demands taking home to bed. ~ Dean Carlson
Tracks here are taken from the long out-of-print Australian import
Beyond The Black Hole and have been remixed, remastered, regurgitated
and released on Estrus Records. Recorded between 1993 and 1996. All
tracks have been digitally remastered. Dig!

ReplyDeleteI first got into them on holiday in Seattle during the 'Grunge Years'. Bought a couple of albums and loved them ever since. This one fills what's inside the black hole of my Man or Astroman collection. Cheers!
